Draupadi Murmu(President Of India):-

Draupadi Murmu is india 1st tribal prez and 2nd woman prez after pratibha patil. On the ocassion of oath taking ceremony, Murmu Said,"Poor too can fulfill thier dreams".

The Journey of Murmu started from Odisha's Rairangapur to Raisina hill, Draupadi Murmu sworn in as the 15th prez(President) of india on 25july, 2022. She wore a santhali saree in the colours of national flag.

Murmu 64, is youngest president of india, yet. and the 1st to be born in independent india, greeted top dignataries with "Johar", the traditional santhali greeting. Followed by 'Namaskar'. Asserting her tribal identity with pride and aplomb.

Admimisterd the oath of office by Chief Jutice of India NV RAMANA, in her maiden address, recalled some of the challenges she overcome and said "her election as prez of india is not an individual triumph, but the triumph of indian democracy that allowed a poor woman to dream and rise to occupy the highest constitutional office of the indian republic."

President Murmu Succeeds Ramnath Kovind(Former prez of india).

Draupadi Murmu Speech:-

"It is the power of india's democracy that a girl born in a poor tribal home could reach the topmost constitutional post that i attained the post of president is not my personal achievement. It is the achievement of every poor person in india. My election is proof of the fact that the poor in india can have dreams and fulfill them too."

Murmu said in a speech delivered in fluent, flawless hindi, even though it is not her mother tongue.

Prez Murmu began her speech with "Johar, Namaskar".

"I was born in that tribal tradition which has lived in harmony with nature for thousand of years... we take resources and serve nature with equal reverence. This sensitivity has become a global imperative today." She added.

What Is Johar?

'Johar' or 'Juhar' is a traditional tribal greeting exchanged among the communities in odisha, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh.

Murmu chose to wear a santhali saree brought by her Sister-in-law for the swearing-in. In another recall of her roots, She quoted Odia's saint and poet Bhim Bhoi to stress welfare of the world over self interest.

In her first tweet, The Prez highlighted tribal Uprising and icons. such as Rani velu Nachchior, Rani gaidinlu and Rani chennamma for thier role in the freedom struggle.
